Elrond
Elrond es un elfo, personaje de ficción perteneciente a la saga del El Señor de los Anillos. Llamado el medio elfo, Elrond era hijo de Eärendil y Elwing y bisnieto de Beren y Luthien. El hermano de Elrond era Elros, Tar-Minyatur, el primero de los Altos Reyes de Númenor. Al término de la segunda edad eligió pertenecer a los primeros nacidos. Vivíó en Rivendel custodiando Vilya, el anillo del aire, que recibió de Gil-Galad. El nombre Elrond es la versión elfíca del nombre germánico Alwar, que significa "hombre despierto o vigilante con nobleza". En algunas ediciones en castellano su nombre aparece traducido como Álvaro. Elrond era también el padre de Arwen Undómiel. Al final de la Tercera Edad dirigió el Concilio de Elrond el 25 de octubre del año 3018 en el que se decidió destruir el Anillo Único. Elrond permaneció en Rivendel hasta la destrucción del Anillo Único. El 29 de septiembre del 3021 de la Tercera Edad abandonó la Tierra Media con los otros Portadores de Anillos para vivir en el reino de Valinor.
